In the menu, click Accept All Changes and Stop Tracking or To remove tracked changes, go to the Review tab's Changes section and click the bottom half of either the Accept button or the Reject button, depending on whether you want to apply the changes to the document or return to the document's original state.
(You can delete one comment at a time by clicking in the comment and then clicking the top half of the Delete button.) Both comments and tracked changes are controlled by buttons on the Review tab. Word shows the markup area whenever you open a document that contains comments or tracked changes, collectively called "markup", and they're set to display in balloons.
